Just when it looked as if things couldn’t get any worse than what they were Harriet Peabody finds herself pummeled by a tumultuous customer, in danger of losing her job and a job offer from a most insufferable businessman. Against her better judgement Harriet accepts the position offered and finds herself in a very different world filled with all sorts of people, daft or not. In spite of it all Harriet sticks with her job looking only to the future when she’ll be free to make her own way in life. But things are not always what they seem and plans don’t always work out.
Another witty read by Jen Turano. Not as good as her last book that I read, but still rather funny. I felt it was rather slow and I did have difficulties getting “in” to the story especially when it lagged. I, however, did not see the very surprising ending and that in itself made it worth the forcing-myself-to-read-so-I-can-finally-be-done. My theories were going a whole different direction and the ending definitely made the book. Recommended to readers looking for a lighthearted, easy read with a touch of humor.
