With Every Breath

With Every BreathKate Livingstone’s personality is as fiery as her red hair. When her childhood nemesis Trevor McDonough reenters her life with a job offer too good to turn down Kate jumps at it, but not without risk. In a world where tuberculosis is a very real threat and feared by the populace Kate can little imagine what she’s getting herself into when she agrees to go to work as Trevor’s assistant in tuberculosis research. With time she grows to respect the mysterious doctor who has devoted his life to finding a cure to the disease. But something doesn’t quite set right. Trevor is tight-lipped about his past and although Kate does her fair-share of snooping answers are evasive. When someone sets out to sabotage Trevor’s work and bring up horrible things in his past it begins to look like Trevor’s hard research is a lost cause unless the spitfire duo can find their culprit fast.

Elizabeth Camden must be incapable of writing despicable stories with boring characters. Every book I have read by this author so far has been the most enthralling and gripping read. Such feeling and mystery bounces off the pages. I’m always sucked right into the story as time quickly ticks by and I lose myself in a world of intrigue, heartbreak and triumph.  *sniff* Now I’m sad it’s over.

I believe I have written before how I am guilty of flipping to the end of books to see how the ending comes out BEFORE finishing the story. That’s usually because authors tend to drag some things out too much or the story is so sorely lacking that I really don’t care if I do spoil the ending because the story is obviously losing its appeal. Not so with With Every Breath. This was an amazing story. On the outset all the medical jargon made me think I would hate the story or at least lose interest but as luck would have it this was not so. The story escalated quickly as the characters wormed their ways into my heart. The underlying humor made a story that could be heavy in areas very fun so there were plenty of emotional twists and turns. Another great addition to the world of historical fiction.
